The Chinese Biomedical Engineering Conference - Brain Intelligence Branch was successfully held!

On September 19-22, 2024, the "2024 China Biomedical Engineering Conference and Innovative Medical Summit (BME2024)" hosted by the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering was held at the Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center. Among them, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Southern University of Science and Technology has hosted the "Brain like Intelligence" branch, chaired by Associate Professor Kai Xiao and Assistant Professor Quanying Liu from our department. This branch invited 7 well-known domestic experts, more than 30 young scholars, and over 100 registrants around "brain like intelligent algorithms", "brain like chip hardware", and "on-chip brain intelligence". The attending experts delivered interdisciplinary speeches on topics such as brain chemistry, brain like material system construction, brain like device construction, and brain like algorithm evolution, covering various aspects from basic research to practical applications, attracting numerous participants for discussion.

The attendees actively participated in various discussion sessions, engaging in in-depth dialogue on the challenges and opportunities in the field of neuromorphic intelligence, and sparking new ideas.

This branch has set up youth thesis competition and graduate thesis competition sections. After strict screening, the Brain Intelligence Branch has successfully advanced to the semi-finals with 2 youth papers and 5 graduate papers! These papers demonstrate the in-depth thinking and innovative research of young scholars in the field of neuromorphic intelligence. The speakers gave excellent presentations on site, and after being evaluated by experts, one first prize, one second prize, and four third prizes were ultimately selected. At the closing ceremony, Associate Professor Kai Xiao, as one of the conference organizers, presented award certificates to the students who had won the prize.

With the conference theme of "Integration of Medical and Engineering Development, Innovation Leading the Future" increasingly deeply rooted in people's hearts, the association has created a communication platform for the integration of various fields such as industry, academia, research, medicine, management, and capital. At this session, everyone unanimously agreed that future research will focus more on interdisciplinary collaboration to promote technological breakthroughs and applications.
