Welcome Professor Tianming Li from Northwestern Polytechnical University!

On November 11, 2024, at the invitation of Associate Professor Kai Xiao, Professor Tianming Li from Northwestern Polytechnical University visited the research group and delivered a lecture titled "Integration and Functionalization of Molecular-Scale Electronic Devices".

Professor Tianming Li is a faculty member in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Northwestern Polytechnical University and a recipient of a national-level young talent award.

Abstract of the Lecture: Currently, silicon-based integrated circuits are approaching their physical and economic limits, and Moore's Law is gradually slowing down. To overcome the size constraints of traditional silicon-based semiconductor devices, the exploration of constructing electronic devices using nanoscale single molecules or molecular clusters has emerged as a promising technological solution. Small molecular semiconductor materials, with their extremely small size (~1 nm), low manufacturing cost, and diverse structures, exhibit remarkable design flexibility and tremendous potential. However, effectively avoiding damage and degradation of small molecular materials caused by traditional micro- and nanofabrication techniques, and achieving efficient integration and functionalization of molecular-scale electronic components, remain key research challenges in the field of molecular electronics.

This presentation focuses on the successful development of various integrable molecular-scale electronic devices—including rectifiers, memristors, and photodetectors—using "self-rolling soft-contact nanomanufacturing technology." It further delves into the size effects of photons, electrons, and ions at the molecular scale, providing theoretical foundations and technical support for understanding and optimizing integrable molecular-scale devices.
